Wedding at Hotel Fuente del Sol, Antequera | Sietse & Marije
A wedding just the way they wanted it!
Sietse and Marije had a very clear idea of what they wanted their wedding to be: them. Every choice on the day was there because it meant something to the two of them, and everyone who came could see it and think, this is so them.
They got married at Hotel Fuente del Sol in Antequera, a venue I know very well. I have shot more than 20 weddings here, and I love being here. It’s classic Spanish, with the most amazing views over the campo, and it has a modern twist, excellent food and staff who are always on point. It was the right setting for a couple who wanted a day that was relaxed and special at the same time. Everyone came beautifully dressed, and the ceremony took place with guests sitting on hay bales.
Sietse comes from a farming family, and his one wish for the day was to arrive at the ceremony on a tractor. It was a secret, a surprise for the guests and a very fun moment. His mother stood on the back and rode along with him.
One of their best friends is a singer, and she sang beautiful songs during the ceremony. For a couple who wanted their day to reflect who they are, having someone they know and love singing for them was exactly right.
The reception started the same way. Instead of a classic grand entrance, Sietse and Marije came in with a huge tray of shots and handed them out to everybody. That’s the couple in one moment: the best part of the day for them was everyone having a grand time together.
When the open bar opened, a Dutch singer came out and played Dutch folk music, the kind that’s very popular in Amsterdam. It’s the music they love, and it played for the whole first hour. Instead of a traditional first dance, they invited everybody onto the dance floor and started dancing, with the whole room circling around them. It wasn’t planned as a moment. It was just them being them, and within minutes everyone had joined in.
