Planning the perfect proposal in one of the most romantic cities in Andalusia.
Planning the perfect proposal while traveling can be quite daunting, especially if you want it to be romantic, private, and beautifully captured. That’s exactly what Paco wanted when he reached out to me from Mexico. He was visiting Spain with his girlfriend Mariana, a professional triathlete, and wanted help planning an unforgettable surprise proposal during their stay in Marbella.
Together, we decided that Ronda was the perfect spot for Paco to pop the question.
Why Ronda is the Perfect Proposal Spot
Ronda is one of those places that looks like it was made for love stories. It’s set on the top of a mountain, and everywhere you go, you have the most amazing views. The town itself is full of historical charm and offers plenty of amazing spots for portraits. When Paco and I discussed options, Ronda quickly stood out as the ideal mix of romance, privacy, and jaw-dropping scenery.
Capturing the Big Moment
Mariana & Paco were traveling with their friend Daniela, who was in on the plan. She played her role perfectly in setting the couple up at the perfect location and acted like she was taking a photo of them. She then asked them to turn towards the scenery, so they had their backs to me. This allowed me to move closer and be ready to capture the big moment — in both photos and video.
Paco told me that Mariana was big on Instagram and would love to have video clips of the proposal as well as photos. So I came prepared with a full setup:

A 360 action cam mounted for BTS video
My phone discreetly placed on a tripod for additional angles
This multi-camera approach allowed me to photograph while also capturing video clips of the entire proposal.
As they stood overlooking the breathtaking views of Ronda, Paco got down on one knee… and Mariana said yes with tears in her eyes.
Post-Proposal Couple Session
After the proposal, we took advantage of Ronda’s incredible locations for a romantic photo session. The natural energy between Mariana and Paco made photographing them really easy.
