Katie & Neil’s English Wedding at Hotel La Garganta, El Chorro
Katie and Neil had an advantage that most of my couples don’t have — they actually live here on the Costa del Sol. That, of course, made it a lot easier for them to scout and find the perfect venue, and it also gave me the opportunity to meet with them in person instead of over a Google Meet, which is always nicer.
They had fallen in love with Hotel La Garganta in El Chorro, and honestly, I totally get why. It’s tucked right into the mountains of Ardales, and the views are absolutely stunning. The hotel isn’t too big, but it was just the right size to house all of their guests, so they could have that intimate wedding weekend they wanted with their friends and family.
Amazing Post-Wedding Session at the Lake in El Chorro
Instead of cramming everything into one day, we planned a post-wedding session a few days later. It took so much pressure off the timeline, and honestly, it was the best decision. We had all the time in the world to explore the lake, wander around El Chorro, and shoot without any stress. Plus, Katie got to wear her dress again — always a win, right?
We went to the lake for sunset and found the most amazing spot on a small hill in the middle of the water. There were just a few minutes of light left, and this stunning kiss of golden light hit the hill. I asked Katie and Neil to stand right in it.
That meant I could send up the drone and get some incredible aerial portraits of them. What really makes the photo stand out is the way they’re standing right in that pocket of light — the eye naturally goes straight to them. It’s not just a beautiful landscape photo; it’s an environmental portrait now.
