A Day of Love, Loss, and Tribute

Eveline & Dennis first contacted me almost two years before their planned celebration. At the time, their excitement was clear, and the vision for their wedding was starting to take shape. But less than a year before the big day, everything changed. They experienced the unimaginable loss of their firstborn son. In the shadow of that grief, the idea of a wedding became uncertain. Not because they questioned their love, but because their hearts were deeply wounded.

It wasn’t until just a few months before the wedding that they decided to move forward with the celebration, and they reached out to me, so we could start the planning. Before that meeting, I felt nervous. I wasn’t sure what to say or how to approach the conversation.

I told Eveline and Dennis that I couldn’t begin to understand their pain, that I had been anxious before the call, and that I didn’t know if they’d want to talk about it or not. But I wanted them to know that I’m here to make the wedding the best it can be.

That moment broke the ice. We talked about how to honor Joshua’s memory throughout the day—with photos, a beautiful banner, and quiet moments of reflection. The wedding day itself was filled with a lot of joy. And yes also a lot of Tars. Friends and family showed their love and support. It was a wedding about life, love, memory, and moving forward while never forgetting. One I will never forget.
